One thing I want to emphasize here and it is that tortoises are not turtles!
Tortoises are land dwellers whereas turtles are partly aquatic.
I once went to Singapore Zoo and was amazed by the Giant Aldabra tortoise, so I decided to keep a few tortoises of my own. I own a few species of tortoises from Giant Aldabra to a small Russian tortoise.
Most tortoises are herbivores feeding on grasses, flowers, leaves, fruit, weeds and cacti, but there are certain species of tortoises like the Red Foot, Yellow Foot, Cherry Head and others that eat insects, worms and even meat and prawns.

Notes: As we all know, tortoises have a long life span. Time and dedication is needed to care for these beautiful creatures.
Another factor to be taken into consideration is their living habitat.
It is preferable to have a large area for them to roam around as they can get really big when they mature.
Proper care is also needed to ensure that they are free from commin issues such as MBD, pryramiding and Flu.
The first type of tortoise I own is the Aldabra Giant tortoise. The Aldabra Giant tortoise (Aldabrachelys Gigantea) are from the islands of Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles.
The second species of tortoise I own is the African spurred giant tortoise (Centeochelys Sulcata).
Most commonly known as the Sulcata tortoise.
The third species tortoise I own is the Russian tortoise. The Russian tortoise (Agrionemys horsfieldii) is also commonly known as the Afgan tortoise, the Central Asian tortoise, Horsefield’s tortoise, four-clawed tortoise and the (Russian) steppe tortoise.
