The Ball Python is also commonly known as the Royal Python (Python Regius). They are a native Python species of West and Central Africa.
It is the smallest African Python and grows to a maximum length less than 2m. It got it’s famous name because a Ball Python tends to curl like a ball when it is stressed or frightened. Their defense mechanism is to coil into a tight ball by tucking their heads and necks in the middle, so they can literally be rolled around.
They are considered as good pets because of their size which makes them easy to be handled. Feeding this snake is relatively easy but there are times when they refuse to eat due to factors such as flu, shedding or when they have parasites.
Overall Ball Pythons are a great pet to keep even for a beginner.
There are a wide variety of morphs available.
