There are more than 1500 known species of skinks. Most species of skinks have no pronounced neck and also have relatively small legs.
The most popular and common skink kept as pets are the Blue-Tounged lizard and the Red-Eyed Crocodile skink.
Currently I own one Red-Eyed Crocodile skink. This species is one of the most docile reptiles to keep as a pet.

They can climb but they prefer to stay on the ground.
